Chronicles of the Trickster

1. Chugdown

It was a brisk night at this small town where men and women alike stroll around doing their business, virtually unaware of the sight of a ten foot tall, thousand plus pound black cat female walking by them, It was Launa and she was just as tense like her clothes as her huge powerful muscles have bulked out temporarily after getting a intense stint with demons that are big and powerful as she is, so that will have an effect on her. The powerful warrior as much as she is a tough fighter and powerful spellcaster she is still and always be a trickster.

She remembers the halcyon days of being the mastermind of the most elaborate games and stunts with unsuspecting or deserving mortals for centuries but now and then she likes to take on a simple challenges to see if they really have what it takes to see if any 'schmoe' can take three rounds with the mistress; which came when she hears the loud cheering of the crowd inside of a local bar. Walking inside and ducking to avoid hitting her head against the railing what the sorceress sees before her was a sight of both amazement and utter disgust. A puny challenger was up against a huge, burly and bearded man with a beer gut that is abnormally large than the others around him who sported them.

The two of them were in a drinking challenge and right before her eyes, the young challenger collapses and spills the beer and the crowd cheered in delight as they are fully unaware that the defeated challenger is on the verge of dying from alcohol poisoning. As the huge-belled champion rises up to take his leave he heard a loud roar coming from the entrance as it was the sound of Launa calling the challenger out to take her on. He scoffs at the idea that a woman like her can drink under him but retaliates that by saying she can drink over him which got the crowd riled up even hit a nerve with him saying if that belly of his is really full of beer or he's passing himself off as a really ugly "pregger". He snaps and finally accepts her challenge. The calls out the bartender to make him a round of the heaviest and strongest beer the pub has got but the bartender objected saying that he had enough, pulling out a large, frighting shotgun he dared the bartender to deny his request again, and in minutes he prepared the first two large mugs of beer but instead Launa asks the bartender if he has anything larger and he does but they have never been used since the pub opened and they are just display models. She asks for them and will pay if they're broken. He then pulled out the "Huge Mugs" which are nearly the size of televisions and took four minutes to completely fill them up.

The crowd surrounded the two challengers as Launa cracked her knuckles and took in heavy breaths knowing full well that she would get a couple of hollers and whistles from the crowd that her heavy breathing makes her mountainous chest heave but Launa didn't care, otherwise she would leap in and beat them all up but her focus was square on her lummox of a opponent. At the call of the bartender the two chugged down the giant mugs not even stopping for breath seeing both no longer sipping but taking up and engulfing amounts that their necks distend and bulge out as if they are swallowing softballs. The champion notices that her neckbulges from her chugging were bigger than his as soon as she was finished she called on the bartender to fill up as fast as he can minutes before he's finished.

An hour has passed and the crowd is in a view that was both in awe and total shock. The tall black challenger taking in her fourteenth and last beer while her opponent with his monstrous beer gun swollen beyond anything a large human could ever contain now grown to nearly a quarter size of a small car chugged down his twentieth beer. The young challenger from the previous match slowly recovered to see the the giant black cat suddenly slammed her mug down and surrenders. Launa accepts defeat in the hands of her now ever reigning champion and bows her head down in shame. The champion slams down his fully empty beer mug and immediately shoots up to give his victorious cheer until the look of his face instantly changed from glee to frozen and suddenly he collapses on his back letting the hideously huge belly roll on top of him. As the crowd gathered around the jumped back as hulking belly shot up and then bobbed up and down with the sounds of a series of loud bloops as it began to flatten out.

Then the crowd turns to the defeated challenger in midnight blue hair as she began to laugh maniacally as she decides to finally gulp down the last of her beer and leaves but not before taking the young challenger and throwing him over her broad shoulder like he's a piece of meat to a predator. She looks back at the bartender as he calls for an ambulance that he can defeat many mortals but he never can defeat a trickster like her and leaves off laughing like a villain after a victory. When midnight approaches her so-called captor was in a state of relief as she explained the situation calmly to him, trying to get over the fact he's getting an explanation from a muscle-bound feline.

When he asked about how she managed to stay so fit after taking in all those beers while his former victor's belly was so huge Launa revealed her secret: She actually chugged down only four out of the fourteen beers, the rest "disappeared". She opened her mouth and revealed a small black portal where most stuff vanished to. She did felt disappointed that all that good beer had to go that way and it was in a sense cheating but she had a bad penchant against terrible players as much as she can say to the challenger that try to take him on and nearly died. But she shrugged it off and acknowledges that at least he died doing what he loved: Drinking himself into a stupor. And then she looks to the small and frail challenger with a look that is somewhat seductive and asks...

"Up for a new challenge?"
Here is the first of a series of shorts featuring Launa Viander titled "Chronicles of a Trickster"

This first story is of her taking on a chugging contest with a deplorable champion who had more than his fill of beer.

Again, fantastic start to a fantastic little mini-series but, as usual this isn't without it's fair share of comments. While the action is break neck and fast paced, the lack of commas in some scenes here and there make it seem like it's written in a rush and in general makes for a bit of an odd structure. Dramatic pauses are in general overused but they CAN be expertly wielded by the right type of author. (E.G You). An example here would be...

" The crowd surrounded the two challengers as Launa cracked her knuckles and took in heavy breaths knowing full well that she would get a couple of hollers and whistles from the crowd that her heavy breathing makes her mountainous chest heave but Launa didn't care, otherwise she would leap in and beat them all up but her focus was square on her lummox of a opponent. "

The paragraph is written all fine and dandy. But, if altered a bit, it should look somewhat like this...

" The crowd surrounded the two challengers as Launa cracked her knuckles and took in heavy breaths, knowing full well that she would get a couple of hollers and whistles from the crowd that her heavy breathing makes her mountainous chest heave, but Launa didn't care, otherwise she would leap in and beat them all up, her focus was square on her lummox of an opponent. "

I might've altered some words here, mostly the but on "her focus was square on her lummox of an opponent"

For a 2009, this is presentably impressive. And a true testament to how clever Launa can truly be. As such, I'm giving this story a 9/10, And cannot wait to read through the entire series in a marathon to gain more insight on Launa. My opinion of her is superficially tied to her muscles and her weapons, but I want to know more. More and more still!

I just want something to read, and thankfully you supply in spades, my friend.
